Our Story

Jordan's Perspective

TJ and I became friends at School's Out Summer camp, where we worked. At first, we did not talk much, as he was much younger than me. He found out through his sister Veronica that I played volleyball, and he invited me to sub a few nights at Pub 72.

As time went on, TJ continued to ask me to play, and there began to be more flirting involved on both ends. Roni, his sister, had asked me to attend one of her Home soccer games at Carthage College.

I initially hemmed and hawed about attending, as I could feel things were happening between us. I had texted his sister, Roni, and asked her / told her about how I was feeling and asked her thoughts. She said, "I definitely think there is something there."

I texted TJ and said I was going to go to the Tailgate, and he told me that it was only about an hour away. After looking it up, I realized it was actually an hour and a half. I was worried about driving all the way up there and not having a place to sleep, so I asked him if there was a place I could crash. He told me I would 100% have a place to sleep and that I could sleep in Roni's room.

Driving up there, I was nervous and had NO idea what to expect. As I parked my car and found them, I was instantly introduced to Dennis, his dad (who I did not know was going to be there), along with Christina, his mom. Of course I was caught off guard and introduced myself as his volleyball friend. His mom responded with "Oh my goodness! He talks about you ALL the time!" I soon realized that they had been drinking, and I was extremely late to the tailgate.

Dennis then began to talk to me and ask me questions about myself, to which he asked, "How old are you?" I laughed because TJ and I are 7 years apart. I responded to Dennis with "Well, how old do you think I am?" Dennis responded with "24?" to which I responded "Noooo." Then Dennis said "27?" and I again said "Nooo." and his eyes widened as he was somewhat in shock and went "wait... you're not 30 are you!?" and I politely responded with "well I will be next year..."

Eventually I got SO drunk and the rest is history ;)

TJ’s Perspective

I first saw Jordan when I was working at an after school camp and thought "WOW that teacher is very cute!" Then at the start of summer camp I was told two teachers would be joining our summer camp team and I just kept thinking what are the chances it is her and then she walks in like a "damn movie". Eventually while we were working together, I found out she plays volleyball so I tried getting her to come play with my team. She started playing here and there and we started flirting back and forth through text. One day, she wanted to ask me a question but never did... so I took my chance and asked her to come to my sisters soccer game at Carthage. I asked her because she was just so fun to hang out with and I wanted to have her join the party. From there it grew and grew into a loving relationship with the best teammate I could ever ask for!
